Wonderful friend to children, adults and the elderly. The domestic chicken will squat and patter their feet, making it easy to go in for a cuddle or lift, (keep their wings beside their bodies so they don't scratch you while trying to get their balance).
There are many breeds of chickens: from the tiny cute feather foot Bantams to the large Brahma chicken (see left) weighing 12 pounds. 
Isa Browns (above) are well known for their friendly inquisitive nature and for giving a prolific number of eggs, without being clucky.
